A few significant strategies were used in order attain the homeowner’s visions of free-flowing, functional and bright space.
Termination of the existing pantry created two entrances into kitchen from eating area – there was only one before.
This also allowed for the new island to be positioned in order to be exposed to different vistas – from the cooking area to the garden and from the desk area to family room.
Fresh lines of sight also meant a glorious exposure to the volumes of natural light beaming through the new, large energy-efficient kitchen windows and exterior door that provide volumes of natural light.
Challenges addressed: Having to reconfigure within existing footprint. Removed existing pantry in order to create a better overall kitchen flow. Integrated storage space in new cabinetry so as to regain lost pantry space.
