Rebuilt, Sturdy and Lavish
Old Ottawa East
The original foundation of this two storey Hazel Street charmer had multiple, significant structural failures. Unsafe and unsalvageable, the only option was to construct anew.
Using architectural features such as porches and balconies, Revelstoke’s design team optically reduced the mass of the dwelling. Horizontal elements — like the unified roof, separated from the lower brick base — help to further minimize visual height.
Reconstructed to low-medium density infill housing guidelines, the homes are differentiated on the front elevation through distinct window treatments on the upper floor. The front door’s prominent colour pops while recessed garage doors blend with the brick.
Feel the balcony’s bewitching pull. Glass-enclosed, it’s ready to host coffee or cocktails, intimately bridging itself into the streetscape of this iconic neighbourhood.
Inside, floor-to-ceiling glazing engulfs the entire area in natural light. Separated by an unobtrusive railing, the main floor’s kitchen and dining room fuse to form a living space worthy of a magazine cover.
Positioned for maximum privacy, the master bedroom’s ensuite provides residents an enchanting retreat, complete with an oversized, glass-enclosed shower.
